It’s hard to believe it’s been six months since we started our phased opening with just 87 of our 191 bedrooms available, but what a success it has been.

We are number one in our Compset scores and when you consider Maldron may not be the most recognisable hotel name in London, this is an amazing achievement. We are also ahead of where we thought we would be financially.

We are exceeding all the targets we were set and that is all down to the fantastic team here, we really are going from strength to strength.

Teamwork makes the dreamwork, but for any new hotel opening it is normal to see a large turnover in staff between the pre-opening phase and opening phase. Thankfully, that hasn’t been the case here — about 90% of our staff are still the same. That’s phenomenal and speaks to itself in terms of how special this team really is.

It might sound stereotypical – a hotel is a bed, a warm place to stay and a cooked breakfast but making guests want to come back is all about how people are being treated and how any issues, if they arise, are resolved. We are an approachable, friendly team and it really shines through.

I love that fire dancing is exciting but at the same time dangerous – it really gives me an adrenalin boost.

When fire dancing always put your hair up.

The weirdest thing about fire dancing- When you put the fire in your mouth it actually feels ice cold in your mouth

My biggest achievement in fire dancing has been dancing in the biggest club in Denmark and performing at Bristol Sounds Festival this year
